 1) Edward Reynolds, amerikanischer Schriftsteller, * Macon (N. C.) 1. 2. 1933; seit 1958 Professor für Englisch an der Duke University in Durham (N. C.); die meist in Prices Heimatstaat North Carolina angesiedelten Erzählungen stellen das Landleben anhand von Familiensagen dar (Romane »A long and happy life«, 1962; deutsch »Ein langes, glückliches Leben«, dramatisiert unter dem Titel »Early dark«, 1977; »A generous man«, 1966; deutsch »Ein ganzer Mann«), in die zum Teil seine eigenen Erfahrungen mit einfließen (Romane »The surface of earth«, 1975; »The source of light«, 1981). Schreibt auch Dramen und Gedichte; seine literaturkritischen Studien befassen sich häufig mit Geschichten aus der Bibel, die er zum Teil neu übersetzt hat.

 2) Leontyne, amerikanische Sängerin (Sopran), * Laurel (Miss.) 10. 2. 1927; war ursprünglich Konzertsängerin, debütierte 1951 in New York als Opernsängerin und war 1961-85 Mitglied der Metropolitan Opera in New York. Sie wurde besonders als Mozartsängerin und in Partien des italienischen Repertoires (v. a. als Aida in G. Verdis gleichnamiger Oper) sowie als Bess (in »Porgy and Bess« von G. Gershwin) bekannt.
 
 3) Dame (seit 1993) Margaret Berenice, britische Sängerin (Sopran), * Tredegar (County Mid Glamorgan) 13. 4. 1941; debütierte 1962 bei der Welsh National Opera Company, sang u. a. an der Covent Garden Opera in London, der Bayerischen Staatsoper in München, bei Festspielen (Glyndebourne) und machte sich besonders als Mozartinterpretin, später auch in Partien des italienischen Repertoires sowie als Konzert- und Liedsängerin (G. Mahler, A. Berg) einen Namen.
